GT85Expect to to pay: £3-4 per 1 ltr approx.
Another must have product. Ideal for post wash lubing. Even comes with handy little straw for hard to reach areas. After bike has dried, apply a coat of either of these products. Spray all over the frame, stem, headset and drivetrain. Although this will not lube the bike as such, the water dispelling properties are second to none. This will remove any unwanted water lying in areas that you cannot see. It also disguises the smell of cow sh*t. Be very careful not to spray on brake discs or brake rims as this could be very dangerous. Available from most auto/diy/bike shops.
Finish Krytech LubeExpect to to pay: £6.99 4oz. approx.
Tried this product and absolutely hated it. Sometimes expense does not produce quality. All this did for me was create horrible waxy deposits every place it was applied. As for lubrication.......... It washed off first sign of rain.
Finish Line Cross Country LubeExpect to to pay: £4.99 4oz. approx.
This MUST have been designed with the Scottish weather in mind. Could be the best all round lube about. Good lubrication, especially in wet weather easy to apply and small enough to carry. The only real downside being that it really attracts grit. Having said that, as long as you wash and look after your drivetrain you will be fine. It is also worth paying an extra couple of quid and buying the 8oz aerosol. This is much easier to apply to the drivetrain as it foams up pretty well.
Wash n' WaxExpect to to pay: £1-10 approx
An inexpensive way to give your bike a light clean during those spring/summer days. Most car owners will have some of this gear lying around. Does not shift serious dirt which is best left to the serious degreaser/cleaners. Also gives the bike a nice shiny showroom finish. The next wash should be easier as mud does not stick to the bike the same due to the coat of wax applied.
Finish Line Chain
Cleaner Kit
Expect to pay: £20
If you love your bike you gotta have one of these. The money it will save in the long run far outweighs the initial outlay. The heart of a chain are the pins and bushings, contained inside the outer rollers. Tiny abrasive particles (silica) cause these bushings and pins to wear, resulting in “chain stretch”. Cleaning a chain, and especially the inner pins/bushings, is a critically important maintenance procedure. This is easy to use after a few degreaser spillages to begin with.
